Yoga & Creative Writing

Healing Yoga & Creative Writing

Ahhh.. writing. It has always been there for me. Do you enjoy journalling?

The therapeutic benefits of journalling have been well documented.

Journalling is a way to relate to our thoughts, feelings and experiences.

The act of writing provides perspective and agency : rather than feeling that life is happening ‘to’ us, we begin to recognise our capacity for change and author-ity – to be the author of our lives.

In this workshop you experience practices from the technology of Kundalini yoga to enhance and empower your clarity, vision, voice and agency.  Writing prompts and exercises to support a flow of creativity and potential that can continue after the workshop is over.

Learn to use journalling, mind maps, word associations, free-flowing stream of consciousness and writing as a mode of self reflection, documentation, story seeding an even memoir. The depth of our experience can be excavated to find solid foundations, we can offer a container for our raw emotional edges and tame negative imagination through engaging our subconscious mind.

*Note, I also have a course/ workshop that’s coming on polyvagal theory informed yoga, looking at digital addiction. Let’s see how creativity and consciousness can awaken our soul.

About me and writing:

I have a writing blog from the olden days here and also I write on substack ( please subscribe if you like 🤗*). I was managing editor and feature writer for publications such as positive aging magazine, the Wild Atlantic way, Active Retirement Ireland and Cork airport. In the past I have also published features on visual art and culture in Contexts, Visual Artists newsletter and regional newspapers. I was ‘Writer in residence’ for Cork Caucus as part of the city of culture 2005 and the most recent book I worked on is this one on Healing with Dreams.

I have kept a daily diary ( and now multiples, and notebooks) since the age of 5. More recently I have been doing Creative projects with songwriting and schools.
